Anees has experience on ad-hoc arbitration cases and cases administered under most of the major arbitral institution rules including the ICC, LCIA and DIAC. Anees also has institutional case management experience having recently served as a Special Counsel (Arabic) at the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) from December 2023 to April 2025.

Anees trained and practiced as a solicitor for approximately six years with the leading international law firm now known as Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer LLP (2012-2017). Anees holds a BA in Economics from the American University of Beirut (High Distinction) and an LLB in Lebanese Law from La Sagesse University. He also holds a GDL, LPC, and an LLB in English Law, all from The University of Law in London.

In addition to his international arbitration specialism and dual English law/civil law capabilities, Anees is widely recognized as an Arabic legal language expert, particularly in cross-border disputes and public international law sphere. Anees is often engaged to provide certified translations for use before international arbitral tribunals and the courts of various common law jurisdictions, including the Courts of England & Wales, the DIFC, and the ADGM. He has particular expertise in the Arabic translation of institutional arbitration rules, investment protection treaties, and MENA local court judgments and civil codes. Anees currently serves as Director at Bablex, a company he founded in 2017, serving clients around the world with high-quality Arabic legal translation assistance and review support on international legal matters. Bablex now has an established team of legal analysts and experts.
